Do I need to receive a Associates in Nursing or a Bachelors of Science: Nursing to receive an RN?

I will probably be a biology major, but I'm too far to change care. Can someone please shed some light on my situation? I just want to know if it is necessary for me to some kind of nursing degree to be an RN. Thanks. I know a great speech pathology, it may be heading for a major RN what you want (within reason). The real question is what kind of knowledge is the best RN because you want to go into debt there. They are treated as an RN in both cases.
